Makita introduces the 18V LXT® Brushless 4-1/2” / 5” Paddle Switch X-LOCK Angle Grinder with AFT® (XAG26Z) for exceptional grinding performance. Featuring X-LOCK Technology, this angle grinder boasts a quick-change system for hassle-free wheel changes. Simply click-mount and pull the release lever to easily switch wheels. Ideal for grinding and cutting various materials such as tile, concrete, pipe, and conduit, the XAG26Z is equipped with a Makita-built brushless motor for extended run time, increased power, speed, and tool longevity. By eliminating carbon brushes, the BL™ Brushless Motor operates cooler and more efficiently for extended life.

Furthermore, the AFT® feature instantly shuts off the motor if the rotation speed suddenly decreases or the wheel is forcefully stopped. The XAG26Z also includes a large no lock-on flush-mount paddle switch with a two-stage lock-off mechanism. The anti-restart function prevents the grinder from starting in case a battery is inserted while pulling the paddle switch into the ON position. Additionally, it is part of Makita’s expanding 18V LXT System, powered by 18V lithium-ion slide-style batteries known for their rapid charging capabilities.

To enhance tool performance and battery lifespan, Makita developed Star Protection Computer Controls™, a communication technology that enables real-time data exchange between the tool and battery. This ensures protection against overloading, over-discharging, and overheating. The XAG26Z can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Batteries featuring the star symbol, indicating the presence of Star Protection inside.

The X-LOCK quick change system permits tool-free wheel changes with a simple snap-on mounting and pull release lever. The BL Brushless Motor delivers 8,500 RPM and runs cooler for extended longevity. AFT technology stops the motor if wheel rotation is abruptly halted, while the Electric Brake halts the wheel in 2 seconds for maximum productivity. The Automatic Speed Change technology adjusts speed and torque during operation for optimal performance.
