Powered by two fast-charging 18V LXT Batteries (sold separately), this trimmer delivers maximum power and run time while remaining compatible with the popular 18V battery platform.

Utilizing electronic controls to efficiently manage battery energy, the trimmer adjusts power and speed based on the task at hand. It also features a counter-clockwise rotation and industry standard spindles for added convenience. The efficient Makita BL brushless motor enhances performance by providing longer run time, increased power, speed, and tool longevity. Compared to non-brushless tools, Makita's BL motor can extend battery life by up to 50% per charge.

The XRU15Z is equipped with a Makita-built Outer Rotor Brushless Motor with direct drive, offering high power and torque, along with Makita Extreme Protection Technology (XPT) for improved durability in harsh conditions. This string trimmer is part of Makita’s expansive 18V LXT System, the world's largest cordless tool system powered by 18V lithium-ion slide-style batteries with quick charge times for minimal downtime.

For enhanced performance and battery protection, Makita incorporated Star Protection Computer Controls into their tools. This technology enables real-time communication between the tool and battery to prevent overloading, over-discharging, and overheating. The trimmer is compatible with Makita 18V LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion Batteries featuring Star Protection, allowing for increased versatility.

With up to 1-1/2 hours of run time using 18V LXT 5.0Ah batteries (not included), the Makita XRU15Z is a powerful and efficient choice for landscapers. Its Automatic Torque Drive Technology mode shifts between 3,500-6,500 RPM for extended run time or added power, and offers three speed options (Low: 3,500 RPM, Medium: 5,300 RPM, High: 6,500 RPM) for optimal power management.
